Insight into Journalism: news

Insight into journalism  is an opportunity for secondary school teachers and college tutors to spend a day at the Guardian and find out how a national news media organisation works

Posted: 02/08/2011

In the morning you will meet Guardian journalists and learn about the 24 hour news cycle; talk to news reporters, feature writers, picture and sub editors; understand the role of newspaper advertising, as well as go on a tour of the editorial floors. In the afternoon you will take part in a hands on workshop where you will create a newspaper front page using that days news and then have your work evaluated by an editor.

This seminar is for Secondary school teachers and college tutors who want to

• find out more about journalism

• gain an insight into how a national news organisation works

• get practical experience and skills in constructing the news

• gain ideas, tips and resources that can be used in the classroom

Demand for this event is expected to be high and places are limited.

The seminar costs £60 plus VAT (£72.00) which includes lunch and resources.
