Many small organisations are unaware of the potential pitfalls of paying staff incorrectly. For some this can result in trustees being pursued by HMRC to repay unpaid tax out of their own pockets.
Even if you are only employing people for a few hours a week the correct PAYE procedures need to be followed. There are also strict rules about who can be considered a freelance worker or self-employed for tax purposes and payments made to volunteers. This introductory course will guide you through the process of paying staff correctly and show you how to avoid costly errors.
The Bitesize series of short courses is designed for people working or volunteering in the voluntary and community sector and is suitable for beginners. Follow up support is available to help you put your learning into practice and more advanced training is available if you would like to learn more.
