VAL as the Council for Voluntary Service is a dynamic, strategic organisation in the borough of Lewisham, committed to help build a strong and vibrant voluntary and community sector in the borough. VAL holds a key strategic position supporting members and the wider voluntary and community sector to build a strong voice and effective relationship with stakeholders, statutory services and funders.

VAL’s present Director is retiring after 12 years with the organisation and VAL is seeking an inspirational, hard working individual with a solid background in the voluntary and community sector. Applicants need good organisational management experience and solid knowledge and understanding of collaboration, partnership working and infrastructure organisations. As such you will be committed to a strong and vibrant independent voluntary and community sector and able to respond to the challenges that lie ahead.

At present VAL is a team of 14 staff, supported by a range of volunteers, and the role of Director provides a unique opportunity to work with the Executive Committee to implement the new strategic plan, building on the fantastic work and strategic relationships already developed in the borough.

Closing date for this post is midday, Wednesday 8th August 2012.

Assessment Centre will take place on Thursday 23rd August 2012. Interviews will take place on Friday 24th August 2012 for those candidates successful at the Assessment Centre.

Cover letter, job description/person specification and application form are all available on VAL’s website, as well as The Guardian and CharityJob.
