Khyal Arts seeks a project assistant from January to May /June 2016, having secured funding from Youth Music Fund to run an exciting project. We will work with our project partner, The Soul Project, based in Wood Street, Walthamstow.

Classical Indian music with a twist, this project fuses tradition and future. Along with the opportunity to learn traditional vocal music, the group will compose a piece that combines table-drumming and beat boxing. Think Nitin Sawhney!
Finally, the young people will be mentored by the Waltham Forest Youth Independent Advisory Group (YIAG) through the course of the project that will ultimately culminate in a sharing of the work, both locally and in conjunction with Barbican / Create, at London Symphony Orchestra (LSO St Lukes) plus a further spin-off project whereby the young people are supported to lead workshops in conjunction with local primary schools.
All Khyal Arts projects and programmes are being designed to have the widest and deepest possible impact for audiences, participants, students, and professional practitioners alike.
The ideal candidate needs to have experience of project management as well as working hands-on with young people of all abilities from all backgrounds. Experience of working in the arts and knowledge of the education system is essential. The successful applicant will be a self-motivated individual, with a good sense of humour. They will demonstrate an ability to work unsupervised, use their own initiative and communicate appropriately with a diverse range of people.
