It Kickz is a 2 year, out-of-school hours music education programme for disadvantaged 13-16 year olds, funded by Youth Music, and delivered in partnership by Forest Hill School (Specialist School in Performing Arts) and Millwall Community Scheme.
We are now looking for a Music Workshop Leader and Trainee Music Leader to join the It Kickz Team and help plan and deliver this exciting programme.

It Kickz will provide opportunities for participants to take part in collaborative and outreach projects with children and young people ranging from 10-18 years in age, as well as offering activities for progression into music industry careers.
The programme will also provide participants with opportunities to access free instrumental tuition, creative music training and gain an Arts Award qualification. As well as develop their music, performance and leadership skills.
Programme sessions will take place on Fridays between 5.30pm-7.00pm at Forest Hill School. Some holiday availability will also be required.
Music Workshop Leader – £25.41ph (freelance)
Fixed Term 1 Year contract
As well as being actively involved in programme planning and evaluation, you will also plan and lead sessions and provide instrument tuition/coaching. You will be required to work for a minimum 2 hours (1.5 hours contact time) on Friday evenings, plus any additional time required during holidays to attend occasional programme visits and performances, and/or run It Kickz Summer Programmes.
The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate their ability to: plan and deliver music projects/activities/workshops; work comfortably across a range of musical instruments; and engage with children and young people. In addition, they must be registered self employed, have public liability insurance and be able to commit to working a minimum of 2 hours on Friday evenings with effect from 7 October 2011.
Trainee Music Leader
Fixed Term 1 Year contract (£8.13ph)
We are looking for a Trainee Music Leader to help deliver weekly practical music-making activities sessions and support the organisation and administration of the It Kickz programme.
You will receive support and training to develop your knowledge and understanding of music education, workshop facilitation, project planning/delivery and community programming. You will be required to maintain a Personal Development Journa as part of your professional development throughout the project.
Instrumental skills and any experience of music workshop facilitation would be desirable, though not essential.
This post would suit a keen and committed young individual looking to progress into employment in music, education, or the community arts’ sectors, and able to commit to working Friday evenings with effect from 7 October 2011.
This post is on a 1 year fixed term contract with the possibility of an extension for an additional year.
