Funding for voluntary, community and faith groups

The community sector unit in Lewisham is launching its main grants funding programme for 2011/14.

Open Until:

Posted: 10/03/2022

The Community Sector Unit provides a range of support to community, voluntary and faith organisations in the borough. They can provide:

* funding for voluntary and community sector projects

* advice on organisation management and fundraising

* community centres, offices and other premises for community activities

* assistance to develop new initiatives and services

* support to help you engage with key central and local government policies

* legal assistance and advice.

To apply for main grant funding 2011-14 applications must:

• be for activities or services that benefit Lewisham residents –the application should describe any specific target groups and how they will benefit from the proposed activity

• be from a constituted third sector organisation with charitable aims and objectives;have a written equal opportunities policy that covers all equality strands

• demonstrate clear financial management procedures and arrangements which allow the management committee to ensure the effective use of resources

• evidence a track record in securing external funding or the potential to attract external funding in the future

Previously Lewisham Council has funded some arts organisations through the Arts Service grants programme and some through the Community Sector Unit. The Arts Service grants programme has now been incorporated into the Community Sector Unit main grants programme. This will offer one, clear and coherent funding stream for all voluntary sector organisations, including all of the funded arts groups. A distinct funding stream is being developed for arts festivals as they currently fall outside of the remit of the grants programme.

There will be a morning and afternoon session on each day lasting approximately two hours. Times to be confirmed.
