Arcola Theatres are seeking a coordinator to join their Creative Engagement team, working primarily on developing and delivering our schools and young people's programme (under 18's), but also on community, talent development and special projects.

You will be joining
one of London’s leading Off-West End theatre’s, working at a fast pace across
one or more exciting projects, (with the majority of your effort on schools and
young people’s projects). The ability to manage your time is essential, as is a

group, and willingness to engage in new challenges.

Principal
Accountabilities and Tasks
To support the Creative Engagement Manager to deliver:
Programming and Production:
- To
support the ongoing development of a thriving creative engagement, youth and
community theatre programme in line with the artistic vision and community
ethos of Arcola Theatre. - To
deliver aspects of the programme (under the direction of the Creative
Engagement Manager), in partnership with Arcola staff, volunteers and external
providers including delivery of workshops and weekly classes. - To
build and develop links with:
o local schools and community groups
o local families, developing and
programming projects that engage with this audience demographic.
o other arts organisations and theatres
in London and beyond, especially organisations that support BAMER communities.
- To
maintain detailed and accurate records of all relationships developed with
schools, community groups and other bodies at all times.
Strategic Development:
- To
work closely with the Creative Engagement Manager on long term strategic
development of Creative Engagement at Arcola, especially in regards to schools,
and young peoples projects.
Audience Development:
- To work closely with the Marketing & Communications Manager and
Creative Engagement Manager to develop and maintain a comprehensive schools
contact database. - To
work closely with the Creative Engagement Manager to develop and maintain a comprehensive
local contacts database.
Finance, Fundraising, Sponsorship and Grant Management
- To
work with the Creative Engagement Manager on writing funding applications for
youth and community projects. - To
maintain records of participation and ensure that freelance practitioners
report on their activities. - To
complete project monitoring and evaluation forms as required. - To
engage with sponsors and donors, in collaboration with the Creative Engagement
Manager
General:
- To
monitor and evaluate all strategies developed under the remit of this post
holder and report on findings to the Senior Management Team. - To
represent Arcola Theatre at external meetings as requested - To
ensure that Arcola remains fully compliant with all legislation and best
practice associated with working with young people or any individuals at risk,
including responsibility for ensuring that all Arcola staff, volunteers and
freelance staff have current DBS (formerly CRB) checks. - To
work closely with the Creative Engagement Manager to ensure solid financial
management. - To
undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required from time to time.
Person Specification
Experience
- Experience
(2 years+) in a similar field within the arts, education or charitable sectors
(Essential). - Considerable
experience in facilitation, workshop leading or directing for youth and
community groups (Essential) - Experience
of working with schools, academies and universities (Essential). - Experience
of working in a multi-faceted Arts venue (Desirable). - A
proven track record in of project management in an arts setting (Desirable). - A
proven track record in of writing successful applications to trusts and
foundations (Desirable).
Knowledge
- Understanding
of the youth and community arts, education and wider performing arts sectors in
the UK (Essential) - Excellent
command of English (Essential) - Competent
IT, numeracy and literacy skills (Essential) - Qualification
in Community/Youth Arts or an Arts related subject (Desirable) - Knowledge
of the local community and demographics of Hackney (Desirable)
Ability and Aptitude

Terms and Conditions
Contract: Full time contract (1 year fixed-term with
intention to extend)
Start: Immediate
Probation period: 3 months
Hours: 40 hours per week Mon Sat (including evenings and
weekends)
Holidays: 28 days per annum including public holidays
Salary: £22,000 p.a.
Access: The theatre is wheelchair accessible
