In these precarious times, Deptford X are delighted to announce that we have been awarded funding from Arts Council Englands Emergency Response Fund. This has allowed us to stabilise the organisation and create a remote programme, Deptford X Online.
Deptford X Online will act as an incubator for the next Deptford X festival. The conversations, relationships, research, ideas and work forged during this time will offer a reflection on both the failures and possibilities laid bare by the global Covid 19 pandemic. Through this we can learn how to be together again in a future Deptford X festival.

How to be together again Residencies at home
Deptford X is looking to support 6 artists, writers and/or thinkers to begin developing work or research on the subject of how to be together again through six, paid, one month residencies.
With talk of returning to normal we invite those for whom normal doesnt serve them to think through the question how to be together again. We are particularly interested in hearing from disabled, sick, queer, non-binary and BAME applicants whose experiences of Covid19 and lockdown draw lines between pre-pandemic structural violences and post-pandemic desires and fears.
We dont expect a specific outcome from these residencies but you will be asked to share thoughts, research and drafts of work in progress in a discursive and public way via online platforms.
We hope that these residencies can form the basis of works to be included in the next Deptford X festival.
We are particularly keen to support applicants who are resident in the borough of Lewisham and have been part of the Deptford X Fringe in the past.
There is an artist fee of £800 per artist.

Artists On the Phone
Deptford X is pleased to offer paid opportunities for 6 artists to develop 1:1 participatory art projects through Voluntary Services Lewishams (VSL) Telephone Befriending Scheme.
Artists will be paired with a service user living in the Lewisham area who has been identified, or identified themselves, as an isolated, lonely or vulnerable person. Through a series of telephone conversations, the artist will work with the service user to imaginatively explore a creative idea or develop a creative project.
The outcomes of each artists and participant pairings 1:1 project will be presented during the next Deptford X festival.
We are particularly keen to support applicants who are resident in the borough of Lewisham and have been part of the Deptford X Fringe in the past.
There is an artist fee of £400.
