Call for creative collaborators: Puppeteers, magicians, illusionists and object manipulators

Upswing are looking for puppeteers, object manipulators, magicians and illusionists to join the team for the next period of research to develop their upcoming production for family audiences based on bedtime rituals. Bedtime Stories explores themes of family bond, separation and nocturnal imagination.
Many of us have fond memories of our parents telling bedtime stories or of those special moments with your own children when you snuggle in your big bed together, unwind and reconnect. Those special moments when tucked up in bed, magical tales were narrated to us by a comforting voice sending us off into a world of imagination and dreams.
Upswing wants to recapture this magic in a performance installation created for families to enjoy together, curled up in bed where a narrated story comes alive above and around them and the audience becomes absorbed in the action.
The aim is to create a 45 minutes long performance including a fantastical immersive bedroom installation, puppetry, magic, music, theatre, dance, and aerial spectacle as an event for and with local families.

We would ask candidates to meet the team for a brief interview and then if successful join us for an initial 3-day creative development residency in London in April 2014. Following April there will be two further periods of creative development in July and August 2014 during which the successful candidates could be involved in.
