Cultural Learning Alliance
‘The Cultural Learning Alliance (CLA) is a collective voice working to ensure that all children and young people have meaningful access to culture.’
Their website contains their manifesto, evidence including their short document ‘ImagineNation: The Case for Cultural Learning

CultureCase
The Cultural Institute at King’s College London has created CultureCase, an online resource that takes robust academic research into the cultural sector and makes it easily accessible to practitioners and decision-makers.
You can use CultureCase to help:

  • advocate for the value of culture
  • apply for funding
  • inform programming, marketing and strategic decision-making

King’s Cultural Institute have carefully selected around 100 articles from peer-reviewed academic journals for inclusion in CultureCase. Each academic paper is digested into a 300-word lay summary and all the off-putting technical jargon has been removed to highlight the practical insights of the research.

Arts Council England

The Arts Council’s research programme produces evidence and information that supports art and culture organisations to improve their practice and demonstrate what impact they are having. It helps inform art and culture policy and the Art Council’s investment activity.

You can search their research library here.

What Next?

What Next? Is a movement bringing together arts and cultural organisations from across the UK, to articulate and strengthen the role of culture in our society.

It is comprised of 30 chapters of freelancers and art organisations operating across the UK, who meet regularly and work collaboratively to among other things: facilitate conversation, build knowledge, relationships and resilience, lobby for arts and culture, and create national campaigns.

Arts Evidence

The evidence library is an online library housing the key research and evaluation documents on the impact of arts-based projects, programmes and interventions within the Criminal Justice System.

It is searchable by arts organisations, evaluation organisations, artforms and many more categories.

Learning About Culture

Learning About Culture is the UK’s largest ever study into the value and impact of arts-based learning for children, particularly those experiencing disadvantage.

The study will deliver three distinct projects:

  • Building the evidence for art-based learning
  • Supporting schools and practitioners to use evidence improving the quality and effectiveness of arts-based learning.
  • Learning from existing practice

The results of the study will be published in September 2020, and resources and current developments are available on the RSA site

The RSA (Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce) has also recently published a report into the strategies of ‘arts-rich’ schools nationwide to learn more about their strategies for maintaining a strong arts offering
