In 1983 Bubble Theatre was told that it was no longer enough to create Theatre FOR the people of London, now we had to make theatre WITH them. Our funding and our survival was at stake.
Later that year, a projects team was formed and the journey into participatory theatre making began…

Come and join us on Saturday 9th March when, as part of our 40th anniversary, London Bubble will:
Bring together the practitioners who were charged with creating and developing this new thing called participation.
Consider the future of participatory and community theatre.
Launch the Bubble archive of participatory work.
We would love you to join us if You make theatre WITH, if you study theatre WITH, if you participate in making theatre WITH, if you fund theatre WITH or if you are involved with theatre FOR and want to know more about this stuff.
The event will run from 4-8.30pm with a series of panel discussions during the afternoon, alongside a chance to browse the Bubble archive of participatory work.
There is no fixed charge for this event but donations are always welcome.
