STONECRABS Directors Traineeship Programme 2012 – 2013

The Traineeship Programme provides participants with a solid training to develop their creative potential as makers of theatre. Not only will you work with leading theatre practitioners – you will direct a public staged reading of your chosen play in a final showcase.

Posted: 07/11/2012

The programme consists of a
series of practical workshops and tutorials towards exploring the nature of a
director’s work. You will develop practical skills in:

Producing (sourcing work space, programming, budgeting, casting)

Fundraising (as part of the training, we, as a group, will engage
in actual fundraising activities)

Arts management (administration, marketing & press)

And backstage work

The sessions are led by StoneCrabs
Artistic Directors, Franko Figueiredo and Kwong Loke, and various StoneCrabs
Theatre Company Associates (Tanja Pagnuco, Chris O’Donnell & Tereza
Araujo). Guest theatre practitioners are also brought in to aid the discovery
of a variety of theatre traditions and techniques and to assist you in
unlocking your creative potential.

 This is
an opportunity for
aspiring theatre directors and those who are at the very beginning
of their career.

 So, we
want to hear from you if you:

Are keen to work in a professional theatre environment.

Can commit to 1½ days a week (Tuesday evenings and all day
Saturdays for a period of 4 months)

Are driven to produce your own work.

Are keen to become members of a young company.

Can commit to the final showcase – full time for 1 week.
