Mental Wellbeing in the Creative Arts Online

A free course that is an introduction to recognising and supporting good mental health in the creative arts through looking at creative identity, structuring good business practice and recognising and dealing with signs of stress and anxiety.

This is a Level One fully online course provided by WEA.

The creative arts are renowned for having a number of high-profile artists that have suffered from poor mental health. This course looks at creative burnout and why it is different to professional burnout. It also looks at anxiety which often leads to depression. The course looks at the self and identity, how to set up good business practices and recognise the signs of stress and anxiety whilst suggesting healthy preventative measures to protect good mental health.

Course aim

An introduction to recognising and supporting good mental health in the creative arts through looking at creative identity, structuring good business practice and recognising and dealing with signs of stress and anxiety.

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

 By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • List at least 3 ways in which to recognise signs of stress and anxiety within a creative arts career
  • List at least 3 ways you can support good mental health
  • List 5 considerations for a strong operational framework when setting up a creative arts practice
  • Identify two significant influences in your creative arts identity, which can lead to a greater understanding of self
  • List at least 5 transferable skills that will lead to a greater awareness of value and self worth
