The focus of this training day will be on the opportunities and challenges of participatory work with early years children, in particular exploring practical ways to encourage and celebrate children's creativity.

The day will focus in detail on the experience of Polka Theatre’s team on their Inside Out project, developed in collaboration over the past 12 months with Abbey Children’s Centre in Merton.
This play for Early Years audiences has been inspired and shaped by the ideas and stories of children ages 4 to 6 from the Centre. The PDD will offer the chance to hear from the play’s director (and Polka artistic director) Jonathan Lloyd, artist Albert Potrony, who designed the show, and Clare Metcalf, Abbey Children’s Centre Co-ordinator, about the impact the project has had on the families taking part. It will culminate in a performance of the play.
