An introduction to the key aspects of managing a small
community group’s finances, we will explore ways to keep your group’s money
safe, policies and procedures, using a budget to control spending. This course
is suitable for new treasurers, committee members, staff or volunteers who need
an overview of the processes required to keep control of
the organisation’s money.

An overview of bookkeeping software options for small
charities and community groups. We will demonstrate two simple Excel-based
bookkeeping systems that are suitable for very small groups as well as two
commercial options – Quickfile and Quickbooks – for those with invoicing or
project monitoring requirements.

Business planning for
non-profits
, 21 June all day

Whether you’re a new social enterprise, or a
voluntary organisation wanting to move towards a more sustainable mix
of funding, this course will help you design a practical plan for
your organisation that will guide your progress towards your
goals. Writing a business plan that is based on a social enterprise model
will help any VCSE organisation communicate confidently and
persuasively with potential funders and other stakeholders. It will also
challenge you to translate your income-generating ideas into reality.
