CAS Commissioning Training 2012 delivered by NCVO

Community Action Southwark (CAS) is delighted to announce a major training opportunity for organisations currently involved in, or wishing to become involved in, commissioning.

CAS have engaged NCVO to deliver 3 major training sessions covering all aspects of Commissioning and Procurement specifically for Southwark. CAS is able to offer these important high quality trainings at heavily subsidised rates thanks to the support of the Big Lottery through our Trustee Project.

Tuesday 24th of April 2012- Commissioning – – Delivered by Fiona Sheil and Laura Smith of NCVO:

• Procurement process, legislation and principles

• Procurement timetables and documentation

• Legalities and terminology of contracts

• Tendering: PQQ and ITT readiness and assessment

• Commissioning process and best practice, including

• The role of the VCS

• Market development

• How to engage with commissioners

Wednesday 2nd of May- Consortium for contract – -Delivered by Ian Curtis founder of Consortico.

An intensive one day master class for voluntary organisations, commissioners and procurement staff actively looking at consortia to deliver services. Developing and delivering contracts under consortia requires an excellently conceived and binding process by all partners. This training gives you the knowledge, skills and framework to go all the way to successful operation as a consortia. Management of conflict and risk are at the heart of this training.

This training has been excellently received by voluntary and public sector delegates. It is no exaggeration to say Ian brings unparalleled passion and knowledge to the subject. Through rich examples and discussion, the session covers:

 • The drivers behind the need for consortia.

• Comparative models for consortia working: how they work and how to build them.

Thursday 10th of May – Procurement legal training – – Delivered by TPP Solicitors and Fiona Sheil:

Solicitor-led legal training on public procurement, contract liabilities and legal terminology. Essential learning for both voluntary organisations and commissioners working to deliver public services under contract. Covering:

• EU and UK procurement law principles and process.

• Challenging the procurement process.

• New Remedies Directive.

• Contract clauses, including:

o Specifications

o Variation and change

o Warranties and indemnities

o Intellectual Property Rights

o Disputes

o Risk

o Cash flow and payments

o Sanctions and terminations

o TUPE

• Risk assessing a contract

• Negotiating Contract Terms

All sessions run 10am – 4pm at Inspire – the Crypt at St Peter’s Liverpool Grove London SE17 2HH. Lunch will be provided.

CAS is delighted to be able to offer these trainings at a heavily subsidised rate through our Big Lottery funded Trustee Project. For this reason we strongly advise organisations to ensure at least one trustee attends this training, but staff members are also welcome to book.
