What is youth voice? How can we involve young people in decision-making? What are the benefits of co-production with young people?

We will explore:

– Youth voice in context: its origins, concepts and models

– Youth voice in practice: the tools, techniques and skills

– Embedding youth voice: ethics, ethos and organisational culture.

Through interactive activities, group work and knowledge-sharing, you will discover why youth voice is important, how it works and how you can successfully embed the approaches within your practice or organisation. The day is suited to both practitioners and those working within small or large organisations.

The session will be delivered by Sound Connections Programme Manager, Jennifer Raven and youth participation expert, Lawrence Becko.

Sound Connections is a champion for youth voice across the cultural sector. Over the last year, we’ve worked with a diverse range of arts organisations and music hubs to create youth voice strategies, develop young trustee initiatives and train teams in how to embed young people at the heart of what they do. We also run Wired4Music, our in-house youth leadership programme, which gives young people across London the opportunity to step up and shape their own musical futures. If you’d like a taste of our approach to youth voice, and some of the things we will explore at the training, try our Youth Voice and Participation Equaliser here >

Ticket prices are subsidized at £40 for freelance individuals or organisations with an annual turnover of less than £100k. The ticket cost is £60 for all other organisations. If you need any further subsidy or are a student, please do not hesitate to contact admin@sound-connections.org.uk as we may be able to offer further discount.
