London Music Education Audit

The Mayor of London's Music Education Strategy has identified a pressing need for a comprehensive audit of the scale, quality and accessibility of music education provision in the capital.

It is widely accepted that provision across the city is patchy, and that levels of activity offered by music services and music organisations can vary greatly from borough to borough.

The four main objectives for this audit are:

– to develop a clear picture of provision and identify gaps so that public and private funders can direct support to where it can add real value.

– to understand needs and strengths across the city and introduce partners who can help each other.

– to identify factors for success, and see whether they can be used to improve provision elsewhere

– to help inform the public about what opportunities are available, and increase uptake, particularly amongst those in economically or socially deprived circumstances.

London Music Education Audit needs input from music education providers, parents/carers and pupils in order for this audit to be comprehensive and accurate.

Deadline: 15 March 2011
