Transfer of Lewisham Music Service & Hub to Lewisham Music, a new registered charity from 1 April 2017 heralding a bright and sustainable future
Posted: 02/06/2017
LEAN is delighted that Lewisham Council has approved the transfer of Lewisham Music Service & Hub to Lewisham Music, a new charity. All staff and services will transfer
across to the new organisation. Lewisham Music will be the lead music education
hub organisation for Lewisham with continuing funding from Arts Council
England. Hub partnerships and collaborations will transfer across to the new
organisation. Delivery of music programmes in schools and centres will be
unaffected by this transfer.
‘Seeing through the transfer has been a long process. We have approached this
task with care, listening to the views of schools, staff, users and
stakeholders along the way. The project has been driven throughout by our fervent
desire to ensure music and music learning in Lewisham have a bright and
sustainable future. With our new Board of Trustees and the benefits that
charitable status will bring, we are excited by the future and look forward to
both continuing and developing our work with you all. Together I am convinced
we can build a new organisation with new and vibrant ambitions but with its
roots firmly in our legacy, our traditions and in the great work we already do.
I am determined that Lewisham Music will be an organisation that makes a real
difference to the lives of young people, that reaches out to all corners of our
borough and one of which we can all be proud.’
Peter Hayward, Head of Lewisham Music
Service & Director of Lewisham Music Hub
