LEAN are delighted that along with Lewisham Local, we have been appointed as partners to support Lewisham residents to get involved in Borough of Culture 2022.

LEAN will curate opportunities for children and young people across the borough to get involved in the programme, acting as a bridge between schools, cultural organisations and community services.
We will recruit a member of staff as a Cultural Connector in every school in the borough to distribute information to staff and pupils. We will welcome arts engaged schools’ staff to
become cultural champions, channelling their enthusiasm and artistic insight to
inspire others and help shout about the importance of the arts and creativity.

collaboration with schools and the many brilliant cultural organisations and
artists we have in Lewisham.
Our ambition is that every child across Lewisham is involved
in some way, whatever their age, or background or ability, and benefits from
and is excited by the diverse, creative opportunities which will be available
to them. We want young people to be at the heart of the programme, their voices
heard and celebrated so they know they are recognised and valued.’

Lewisham Local will coordinate exciting opportunities for local residents to play their part in the year as volunteers, with the chance to learn new skills in the process. They will bring neighbours from different cultural backgrounds together to share time and expertise. The ambition is to build a long-lasting legacy of connecting and giving back, to inspire positive change in Lewishams communities.
