Impact of the Arts on the Development and Identity of Children and Young People

Programme confirmed! Don't miss out on seeing and hearing about music, dance, art and theatre from Lewisham children and young people at the LEAN event next week!

Catford Queen from Catford Tales, Lewisham Youth Theatre

The event will include sharing from schools and arts
organisations:

  • Beecroft Garden Primary School: will display 9 boxes on the theme of
    deep sea creatures, 4 bird sculptures and a large scale tapestry based on a section of
    a National Gallery painting. Year 4 children will talk about their work and the processes involved.
  • Edmund
    Waller Primary School:
    will share their Opera project. Find out how the project started, do some participatory voice
    exercises and hear Yr 6 talking about what they are doing and the processes.
  • Forest
    Hill School Music and Dance:
    As well as year 12’s sharing their Indie music,
    our hosts will show us: The Art of
    Choreography
    – Year 7 Students have been creating dances in response to
    photographs and art work; Beggin’ –
    Year 10 students have created their own street and breakin’ routine and Rosas Danst Rosas and Dance Tek Warriors
    – Year 11 GCSE Dance work.
  • London
    Bubble and Brent Knoll School
    bring us Speech Bubbles, a creative
    intervention that supports children’s communication development. They will
    demonstrate how the programme is delivered and how it can be successfully
    adapted to work in special education.
  • Lewisham
    Youth Theatre
    will share Catford
    Tales: How we made it
    . 120 community performers staged their stories in and
    around the public buildings & streets of Catford Town Centre. The project
    was youth lead and a group of our young actors will share their experience of
    taking part in this project.
