Funder responds to sector feedback
Following an article by a charity project manager on his experience of applying to grants giving bodies, and Esmée Fairbairn’s own research; the charity announce they will change how they give feedback.
51% of unsuccessful applicant who responded to a survey in January 2016 said they would like more feedback. Esmée Fairbairn propose to do 4 things:
- Coding each application by the main reason we turn it down
- Offering feedback to each applicant on that main reason
- Using this data to improve our funding guidance, with the aim of cutting down the number of applications
- Taking up a tool developed by the Peery Foundation – Funder Feedback – to seek anonymised instant feedback on all aspects of our work
