Cultural Metropolis, the Draft Cultural Strategy, sets out how the Mayor will support and work in partnership with a sector that generates over £18bn a year to ensure London maintains its position as the ‘greatest cultural capital of the world’.
The strategy highlights concerns and priorities for action around a wide range of issues such as private and public funding, international promotion, education and training, improving access and participation, supporting festivals and public art, planning and cultural infrastructure. Central to much of this is the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the unique opportunity it provides to transform the cultural life of London.
The strategy is now available for public consultation. Results of the consultation will be published in late 2010.
