Call-out for stories – young people and the arts

Have your young people gone on to further study, training or employment (especially non arts), where the arts have been a help rather than a barrier?

LEAN are looking for stories from young people, these will be read out
during our event (below).

Myths and MisinformationWhat are the myths and misinformation about choosing to study arts subjects (at GCSE and A level) and how can we dispel them? This will be a Twilight event on Thursday 9th February at Goldsmiths College (free/all welcome).

We are looking examples
to share e.g. ‘Max studied fine art,
maths and physics at A Level and went onto study civil engineering at Imperial,
they were please to see he could draw and understand objects visually’
or ‘Mary went onto be an IT apprentice after
studying Drama, English and Maths – it built her confidence and meant she could
articulate herself well

We need:

–
100 (ish) words telling their story (ideally in
their words)

–
Photograph of them or their art work (with their
permission)

–
Their name (unless they want to be anonymous)

–
Your name/school/org/group

Please send to Elizabeth@leanarts.org.uk by Tuesday 31 January 2017 and let us
know if you have any questions
