The Rainbow Collective was a project focused on improving the cultural offer to preschool children in Lewisham.

The Rainbow Collective grew out of a year long programme which was supported through funding from A New Direction, to expanded our long running early year’s music stakeholders group to include all art-forms.
In 2013/14 the group taking part in the programme included:
- Lewisham Music (formally Lewisham Music Service and Hub)
- Pre-school Learning Alliance, Lewisham
- LEAN
- Early Years Improvement Team
- Freelance arts practitioners
- Horniman Museum and Gardens
- Tea Dance for Little People
The aim of the collective was to bring all professionals from arts and early years together to learn and exchange knowledge and ideas. This included all art forms: drama, dance, music, visual arts, crafts; and all early years professionals whether childminders, from nurseries, schools, pre-schools, children’s centres, libraries, creche workers, toddlers groups, supplementary schools, health workers and more.
LEAN still strongly advocates for arts and cultural engagement for early years and we continue to promote opportunities for early years on our twitter feed @RbowCollective.
