Teachers, artists & gallery educators: Young artists wanted for Generation ART!

Do you know any young artists aged between 4 and 18, who live in England? Have you worked to inspire them with art, artists and galleries?

This is a fantastic opportunity to exhibit their artwork alongside established artists in a touring exhibition called Generation ART: Young Artists on Tour. If their work is selected it may be shown in four major venues, Turner Contemporary in Margate, New Walk Museum and Art Gallery and Soft Touch Arts in Leicester, and Quay Arts in Newport on the Isle of Wight in 2015-16. Each exhibition will be accompanied by associated learning programmes, developed by each venue. A larger selection will be shown in an online resource, which will be promoted across the UK.

The aim of Generation ART is for children and young people to be involved in a high quality exhibition at every stage – as curators, artists, audiences and champions. It aims to get new art visitors stepping over gallery thresholds and being inspired to make their own art. By profiling high quality artwork by children and young people, Generation ART aims to raise the aspirations of schools, teachers and of children and young people, and inspire them to create excellent artwork.

The artwork can be in any medium, including digital, video, painting, drawing, textiles, sculpture and more. It can be a finished artwork, or a piece of research – a drawing, study or model or maquette. It could be made in any setting – such as home, school, gallery or youth club – by groups or individuals.

You can enter up to six individuals, and/or a group project each represented by one artwork. Young people aged 14-18 can enter individual work themselves; please encourage that route if you prefer.

Enter online at www.engage.org/GenART by telling us how the young artist was inspired and the work developed, and uploading digital images of final pieces, by 10am on Tuesday 7 April 2015. Please spread the word to peers and young artists.

Generation ART is on Facebook www.facebook.com/GenerationARTYoungArtistsOnTour, or if you prefer to use Twitter or Instagram you can use the hashtag #GenART-Tour to see updates and images relating to the exhibition.

Run by engage, the National Association for Gallery Education, in collaboration with venues and partners, Generation ART is supported by Arts Council England’s Strategic touring programme.

"Just to say a huge thanks ... I am looking forward to progressing with this project thanks to your support, advice and guidance"
