Futures Theatre Company will be touring with their forum theatre production Sweet Love in March and April 2012. A play which addresses the issue of Sexual Bullying.
The performance
Sweet Love is a powerful, forum theatre production which aims to challenge attitudes towards sexual boundaries and behaviour whilst raising awareness of sexual bullying. The play tells the story of Year 9 students Naomi and Joe who have recently started dating, it’s first love! Joe’s friends begin pressurising him to loose his virginity with Naomi but they both want to wait. Unbeknown to Joe, Naomi is being sexually harassed and intimidated by his friends in the school corridors, but how can she tell him, is it her fault?
Interactive Workshop
Following the performance a forum workshop is facilitated, enabling the audience to become involved as actors to change the outcome for characters, exploring what choices they could make to result in a better outcome.
Sexual Bullying can be defined as:
Any bullying behaviour that has a specific sexual dimension or a sexual dynamic. It may be physical, verbal or non verbal/psychological. Behaviours may involve suggestive sexual comments or innuendo including offensive comments, sexual language, sexist attitudes or gender stereotypes.
