Research Brief: Developing Talent & Addressing Underrepresentation in Creative & Digital Industries

Budget: £20-24,999. Tender Submission Deadline: 29 October.

Posted: 10/11/2019

The
South London Innovation Corridor is a partnership initiative with a vision to
catalyse inclusive growth of the Creative and Digital Industries (“CDI”) across the boroughs of
Lambeth, Lewisham, Southwark and Wandsworth.

Lambeth Council (in partnership with Lewisham,
Southwark and Wandsworth councils) is seeking a provider to undertake research
and produce a high-level commissioning proposal for projects addressing the
underrepresentation of BAME people, women, people with disabilities and people
from lower income backgrounds in the Creative and Digital industries.

This
research and commissioning proposal will help the SLIC partnership to utilise the
£1m Talent Development budget in a way that supports innovation and adds value
to existing initiatives underway in London and the UK to tackle this important
agenda.

The SLIC borough partnership is seeking
specialist support
to understand how best to approach the challenge of
underrepresentation in the CDIs, and to look at improved progression prospects
for those currently employed in the sector on zero hours contracts or in low
pay roles.

This research should answer three key questions:

  1. What is the current landscape of organisations, projects and funding
programmes at the forefront of tackling the lack of diversity within the
creative and digital industries – with particular regard to apprenticeship
    related provision?
  2. How can the SLIC Talent Development Funding be
    used most effectively?
  3. How should the SLIC partnership approach
    commissioning Talent Development activity?

Tender
Submission Deadline: 29
October.
