Lewisham is gearing up to be London Borough of Culture 2022.  Join Lewisham Council to help deliver our ambitious programme and realise the benefits for our residents and the council.

The role

Our London Borough of Culture programme provides an exciting opportunity to use culture to deliver lasting change for our borough.  Being Borough of Culture will shine a spotlight on Lewisham, give us an unique opportunity to show the rest of London not just what an incredible cultural sector we have but our green spaces, vibrant neighbourhoods and welcoming communities.    As a Council we recognise the Borough of Culture as a key strand in our covid recovery and a tool for change. The programme has challenging, critical issues like climate change and migration at its heart. It will provide a vehicle for thinking about the health and wellbeing of residents, connecting people together and giving them something to smile about. But we will also be looking to re-energise the local economy and open pathways to new employment opportunities for young people. The Borough of Culture is coming at just the right time to help us do these things.

The Programme Manager will play a lead role in ensuring that we capitalise on the enormous potential of Lewisham Borough of Culture 2022 and drive out the full benefits for the council, our partners and our residents.  Working with our delivery partners, our funders, teams across the council and external partners you will broker partnerships, secure resources and ensure smooth delivery.

Location

Laurence House, Catford and with remote working during the Covid 19 lockdown.

What we’re looking for

You will have extensive experience of successfully delivering complex programmes across multiple partners, maximising available resources and delivering agreed benefits.  You will have demonstrable programme and project management, service co-design, transformation and change management skills.  You will be an influential and persuasive communicator with a strong commitment to equality of access and opportunity in a diverse community.

In return, we’ll offer excellent development opportunities, plus a range of benefits that includes a career average pension scheme, flexible working and the opportunity to make a real difference to our local community.
