Spread the Word is pleased to announce that applications are now open for London-based emerging writers to apply for Spread the Word’s Emerging Writer Commissions, as part of our 30th Anniversary commissioning programme.
Open Until: 07/10/2024
Posted: 30/09/2024
The deadline for applications is: 1pm, Monday 7th October 2024.
These commissions aim to showcase new work by three London-based emerging writers, and provide a developmental and profile-raising opportunity.
They will be judged by Joelle Taylor and Olumide Popoola.
We also have commissioning opportunities available for London-based deaf and disabled writers. For more information visit: spreadtheword.org.uk/deaf-and-disabled-writer-commissions. If eligible, writers are welcome to apply for both commissions.
The 30th Anniversary Emerging Writer Commissions are generously supported by The London Community Foundation and Cockayne – Grants for the Arts.
Commissioned writers will each receive:
- £2,000 commission fee
- Three sessions with a mentor
- One to one development support from Spread the Word
- Publication of their work in the Deptford Literature Festival magazine
- A platform to showcase their work to an audience at Deptford Literature Festival and online
One of the three commissions will be awarded to a writer living in the borough of Lewisham.
