The Serpentine Galleries are pleased to announce an open call for the Changing Play programme.
We welcome applications from artists, designers, architects and creative practitioners interested in all aspects of play. Successful applicants will work closely with children aged 0 4, their families and staff at early years centres and the surrounding neighbourhood in London.
Drawing on alternative and radical education models the Serpentine seeks to promote a critical reconsideration of play and early years education in todays society. The residency will be embedded within centres and will encompass ongoing critical pedagogical discussions with the Serpentines Education team and early years practitioners, making connections to democratic early years practice and theory.
The Serpentine Galleries are seeking proposals from emerging and established creative practitioners who are principally interested in working with people. Successful applicants will work closely with the Serpentine Galleries Education team to co-deliver an open workshop programme at or through early years centres. You will be supported to produce a resource responding to or following on from your commission with a view to complement your project and reach audiences beyond participants at the centres.
The Serpentine Galleries are looking to programme multiple Changing Play residencies throughout 2016 and 2017.
REQUIREMENTS
- Changing Play is open to artists, designers and architects working in Greater London.
- Successful applicants will be available for at least one day per week for a period of three months during the workshop programme and for an additional period to allow for research and production.
- Past experience of working with children is beneficial but is not essential.
