In this new role, the Director of Deptford X will be responsible for the overarching lead
ership, management and strategic development of the charity and its assets, including the annual
Deptford X contemporary art festival and new gallery, project and studio spaces.
With a background in arts and events management, the Director of Deptford X will bring practical experience of management, strategic direction and planning. The right candidate will be a self-
directed operator and high-level communicator, tasked with ensuring the charity’s financial stability and security, capitalising on its long-established creative reputation, and nurturing its vision for growth.
You will be managing a small team of two (part-time Festival Producer and Assistant), as well as freelance contractors and volunteers during the festival. This role requires a level of practical input and the ideal candidate will need to be able to roll up their sleeves and get involved.
Other key responsibilities include:
- Securing income from a range of sources including traditional fundraising
- Financial and budget management
- Fulfilling an annual programme of exhibitions for the new gallery space
- Running and facilitating the new project space
- Seeking and cementing relationships with new and existing partners
- Managing and building on community relationships and external liaison
Knowledge of Deptford and its cultural heritage and characteristics would be an advantage.
The Director of Deptford X will report to the Board of Trustees.
