Musicians sought for Greenvale School Music Festival, July

Greenvale School are looking for musicians who can:

  • Perform for 20-30mins to a group of students and staff (between 10-40 people) in our playground (or school hall if raining), or to a class group (10-15 people)
  • Lead an interactive workshop 20-45mins
  • Repeat workshop/performance to several class groups e.g. for ½ day or whole day

Recovery Curriculum Summer Term 2021

 

Overview

Greenvale School is a secondary special school for people between
the ages of 11 and 19 years who have significant learning difficulties
including those with an additional diagnosis of autism, and those with
additional medical needs. Many pupils have additional physical and sensory
disabilities and some of our young people have profound and multiple learning
difficulties. 

 

Music Festival Aims

As part of our COVID-19 response, we have developed a ‘Recovery
Curriculum’ and from 12th – 16th July we will be holding
a whole school Music Festival (think Notting Hill Carnival!) with the main aims
being:

  • to
    develop wellbeing
  • to
    developing relationships and reconnect
  • to
    develop creativity and expression  

 

Some of our activities with include:

  • Making
    bunting or colourful paper chains
  • Making
    flags
  • Festival
    fabric banners to cable tie onto the wire fencing
  • Entry
    wristbands
  • Customising
    the festival t shirts or bandanas
  • Cooking
    activities
  • Dance
    – Step into Dance Workshops
  • Music
    – performances and workshops
  • Art
    installation with tickets, drinks and snacks
  • Online
    whole school assembly (Fri 16th July)

 

We are looking for musicians who can:

  • Perform

Other

  • No
    experience of working with students with learning difficulties is required, and
    our staff will support class teach
  • Enhanced
    DBS is preferable; however, we could complete a risk assessment for a one-off
    activity
  • Fee
    available for performance/workshop
