British Youth Opera are looking for a Musical Director for the Serena Fenwick Programme, a new training programme for singers who have taken part in British Youth Opera training and are not currently studying. This will be launching in November 2020.

The Serena Fenwick Programme works with twelve singers over six weekends. Each weekend focusses on a different topic with a different guest leader, but as Musical Director youll be the constant across the whole programme. Youll also will work with the Director of Training and Productions and others to select suitable repertoire for a final performance in April 2021, although there will be a separate creative team for that part of the programme.
As Musical Director youll be responsible for:

Overseeing the musical aspect of the Serena Fenwick Programme

Providing piano accompaniment for all weekend sessions

Supporting session leaders

Taking the lead in running a small number of sessions

Running 1-to-1s or small group breakout sessions as required, during the weekends
And youll need to be:

An experienced opera pianist

An opera coach with a minimum of ten years professional experience

Interested in the training and nurturing of young singers

Working regularly with singers at a higher education level
