Learn and share how to make withy lanterns for Illuminate Rotherhithe

Take part in a series of free lantern making workshops led by local artist Cathy Wren, and then teach others how to make them.

The lanterns will be processed around Rotherhithe at twilight on 23rd November. It’s part of Illuminate Rotherhithe, a series of events seeking to engage the different communities within Rotherhithe and explore elements of local history.

We are looking for volunteers to

  •          Make a
    lantern for the procession
  •         Support
    us in delivering lantern making workshops to other local groups, including
    older        adults that we work with in sheltered accommodation
  •        Take
    part in the procession on the evening of 23
    rd November

Times & dates

You would need to come to one (or
both) of our training workshops on Tuesday 24th and 31st
October from 6:30-8:30pm at London Bubble Theatre (3-5 Elephant Lane,
Rotherhithe SE16 4JD)

Once you have attended a
training workshop, we are looking for volunteers to offer support at one or
more workshops in late October/early November:

Public workshops on

25th October, 11-1pm

18th November, 2-4pm

19th November,
11-5pm

Sessions with groups of older
adults on

3rd November,
10:30-12:30

7th November, 2-4pm

8th November, 1:3-3:30

All of the workshops are at our
base in Rotherhithe, or nearby.

and the arts

Are interested in meeting a diverse group of
people, including families and adults living in sheltered housing

·        
Have or are willing to apply for a DBS check
(processed by London Bubble free of charge)

We are particularly keen to engage with volunteers
aged 59-69
