Phosphoros Theatre are looking for a designer to be involved in a 3 day R&D with us from 17-19 January in London. A bit about Phosphoros Theatre, we are an award-winning Theatre Company of Sanctuary focused on amplifying refugee voices and bringing them to the main stage. We collaborate with artists, audiences and participants with lived experience of forced migration.

The project we’re developing, ‘Baba’s Birthday Present,’ is for children and families. It is an exciting, touching and funny story of a UK-born boy whose dad came here as a refugee. There is a bit more info in the document attached.
We have run an initial week of research and development with 4 actors. We’re planning 3 further days to bring the story to life. This will culminate in a relaxed sharing that we are inviting prospective partners to.
We’re looking for a London-based designer, with experience designing for children’s theatre who is excited by the project. Any experience designing puppets is a bonus!
The fee is £150 per day.
