The HeadStart Lewisham Innovation Fund is
particularly looking at highlighting innovative practice that supports improved
resilience and/or emotional literacy.  As part of this work, we would like
providers to demonstrate how their work can help build capacity and learning
within the children and young people’s workforce in Lewisham.

We are particularly interested in
supporting projects that think they have a great programme, which works on a
small scale but needs testing, and developing in the following ways:

  • Identifying
what factors make it work and why
  • What
is the theory of change and to what extent is it successful
  • If
there was greater capacity in the project, and how this could be achieved

We are looking to develop and
evidence projects that work with children and young people aged 10-14, who live
and/or study in Lewisham.

Context:

The HeadStart initiative,
funded through Big Lottery, offers us in Lewisham a very exciting opportunity
to improve the lives of young people in our borough. Lewisham is one of twelve
areas approached by Big Lottery to take on the challenge of improving the
mental wellbeing and resilience of 10-14 year olds

The
HeadStart Lewisham programme is a result of research to identify local need and
gaps in current provision.  We have
undertaken extensive consultation with partner organisations, young people and
their parents or carers to identify areas where the HeadStart funding could
make a real difference.
