Forest Hill School (FHS) is a boys secondary comprehensive (with a
mixed 6th Form) based in Lewisham, with specialist status in the
performing arts. A unique professional
development opportunity has arisen for a graduate artist with cutting edge
contemporary arts practice and knowledge to join our Visual Arts Department as
a voluntary Artist-in-Residence for a 14 week placement during the 2014 autumn
term.
As Artist-in-Residence
you will have the opportunity to:
- work alongside teaching staff to help plan and
deliver art lessons; - design and lead delivery of student workshops
relating to your specialist art form(s); - facilitate/support the learning of students (ages
11- 18); - take a leading role in developing FHS very own
sculpture garden (subject to relevant skills/training) - exhibit your work within the school
In exchange for your
time and expertise you will:
- gain professional development as an Artist
Educator, through supported on-the-job learning; - access opportunities to learn, develop and
enhance your workshop planning, facilitation and teaching skills,
including how to achieve meaningful learning outcomes; - gain valuable skills and experience working with,
managing and supporting the learning and development of children and young
people; - develop your knowledge and understanding of
school issues and practice; - gain insight and share arts-education best
practice within a school setting.
PLUS, you will access 2 set days
per week free studio space/time
throughout the placement.
