The courses combine practical and written skills with a focus on choreography and performance, as well as analysis and criticism of dance. They provide a valuable ‘springboard’ into further dance or performing arts courses at higher education level and students attending the Academy benefit from its strong links with the professional dance industry and other academic institutions.
The applicant days are open to prospective students and their parents and will provide an opportunity to get a feel of what it is like to attend the courses, including a tour of the facilities, meeting with the course leaders and current students, watching rehearsals for the forthcoming assessments and asking any questions you may have.
The RAD Dance School will be holding a GCSE and GCE AS/A2 Dance course Applicant Day for prospective students and their parents, on the following dates:
GCSE: Saturday 19 March, 2.30pm – 4.00pm
Available to students aged 13 and above (Year 9 at School), some dance experience is required
GCE AS/A2: Saturday 26 March 2011, 12.00pm – 1.30pm
Available to students aged 15 and above (Year 11 at School), dance experience is required.
Booking forms should be returned by Monday 14 March 2011.
