Freelance roles currently available at Ovalhouse

Ovalhouse is running 3 intensive performance projects over the Summer months, working with young people who have barriers to accessing the Arts. They are looking for 3 experienced practitioners in spoken word/poetry, directing and choreography to help run the projects.

Ovalhouse is running 3 summer intensive performance projects

to accessing the arts and are looking for a 3 experienced
practitioners

 

Spoken Word/Poetry Facilitator

An exciting writer and facilitator
to create a friendly and supportive environment where young poets, Mc’s and
spoken word artists can explore writing for live performance, offering creative
guidance and feedback on participants writing. Group size will be 20
participants max ages 16-15years old. As part of the role the practitioner will
mentor 2 Ovalhouse Young Associates, emerging arts leaders in training.
 The practitioners need to have lots of experience including delivering
projects with groups in a participatory arts context. They will be supported
with pastoral care worker, producer and  the Head of Youth Arts

8-11th August. Fee
approx £660 TBC.

 

Director

Director to create ambitious
theatre using devising methods. Group size will be 25 participants maximum
aged, 11-18 year olds. As part of the role the practitioner will mentor 2
Ovalhouse Young Associates, emerging arts leaders in training.  The
practitioners need to have lots of experience including delivering projects
with groups in a participatory arts context. At the end of the three weeks
participants will perform to an invited audience. Performance will be on Friday
2nd and Saturday 3rd September. They will be supported
with pastoral care worker, producer and  the Head of Youth Arts

August 15th- September
3rd (excluding
weekends) 11am-4pm. Fee approx £2475 TBC.

 

Choreographer 

A choreographer  to
create some exciting, original dance (a mixture of styles street/contemporary
etc) with a group. Group size will be 25 participants maximum, 11-18 year olds.
As part of the role the practitioner will mentor 2 Ovalhouse Young Associates,
emerging arts leaders in training.  The practitioners need to have lots of
experience including delivering projects with groups in a participatory arts
context. At the end of the three weeks participants will perform to an invited

. All practitioners need experience
working with young people who have had or are experiencing barriers to
accessing the arts. Ovalhouse welcome all applications but particularly encourage BAME
applicants.
