 The
Community Learning Team is responsible for developing and delivering the
Museum’s public family programme as well as targeted community engagement work
with local community groups and not-for-profit organisations.  The family
programme reaches over 75,000 people each year, with a range of sessions that
include object handling, art and craft, storytelling, large scale performance
events and outdoor nature sessions. Our programming is designed to make our
collections and exhibitions more accessible to families and to provide a
positive experience for family visitors of all ages.

Horniman are
looking for freelance tutors who understand that family learning involves the whole
family; all our sessions model and teach ways parents and carers can be
instrumental in their child’s learning.  You should be
committed to facilitating active learning for both adults and children and
able to communicate in an appropriate and sensitive way to meet the needs of
our diverse family audience.  You will also be adaptable and motivated as
no two sessions are ever quite the same, and will be able to enthuse audiences
of different ages and respond to their differing needs.

They are
keen to build on the skill set of our existing freelance team and would like to
recruit tutors who have either a disability focus or ESOL experience,
particularly in a family learning environment.

Further
information is available via our website
www.horniman.ac.uk/about/jobs.
To apply, send a CV and covering letter to Rose Mitchell
rmitchell@horniman.ac.uk

The
closing date for CVs is 10am on Friday 11th December 2015.
Interviews will be held on Monday 11th and Wednesday 13th January
2016.
