Deptford X exists to promote the best contemporary visual art and celebrate that art with the widest possible audience.  It is an arts event born of Deptford’s creative community and based on a belief in the limitless potential of the area. 

JOB DESCRIPTION     

As Deptford X Festival Assistant you will support the Festival Producer in delivering a high quality Festival and Fringe. 

You will be the main point of contact for Deptford X venues and selected Fringe artists and you will be responsible for managing Festival volunteers. 

The position will be initially for one day a week starting in early June, but additional days will be offered in the lead up to the festival.  You need to be available for additional work throughout the Festival dates (25 September – 4 October 2015), including both weekends and occasional evenings.

Term of appointment is initially for 6 months.  

Paid at the London Living Wage, £9.15 per hour.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

You will need to have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be computer-literate and able to process information quickly.  You need to be organised and flexible and able to cope with busy situations.  

You should be able to demonstrate an interest in the visual arts.  Ideally you will have some knowledge of Deptford X and some awareness of the local artists and venues that regularly take part.  Experience of working in a technical and/or administrative capacity, and/or experience of organising events, would be an advantage.
