Salary range: £22,919 per annum (rising to £23,386 after probation)
Hours of work: 35 hours per week including regular Thursday evenings, occasional evening and regular weekend working
The Horniman Museum and Gardens in south east London has been open since Victorian times, when the tea trader and philanthropist, Frederick John Horniman first opened his house and extraordinary collection of objects to the local community. Since then, our collection has grown significantly and includes internationally important collections of anthropology and musical instruments, as well as an acclaimed aquarium and natural history gallery all surrounded by 16 acres of beautiful Gardens offering breathtaking views across London.
The Horniman provides learning experiences for a diverse range of visitors, including schools, families, community groups, young people and adults using our spaces, displays and a Handling Collection of over 3500 objects. This post provides operational and engagement support for the community engagement, family and young peoples programmes, enabling participants to feel comfortable and have their voices heard.
You will be experienced at providing excellent support to people of different ages with diverse abilities and backgrounds. You will have worked with at least 3 different types of community groups to facilitate their involvement in activities. You will be committed to working in partnership with community groups to enable the Horniman to improve access to cultural opportunities. You will be able to work flexibly, within a team and independently.
