Lewisham People’s Day started 33 years ago
and has grown to be one of south east London’s biggest free festivals. This
unique community festival with seven stages of live music, dance, circus,
visual arts and comedy welcomes over 1,000 performers, 150 exhibitors and
25,000 visitors every year. This year People’s Day will take place on Saturday
8 July from 12noon to 8pm at Mountsfield Park, Catford, SE6 1AN.

New for 2017   ‘YOU ARE HERE’

This year Lewisham would like to hear from performance and visual
artists around the curation of a new and exciting creative space at Peoples
Day.

They are looking for innovative,
entertaining and engaging work to showcase and exciting ideas on how visitors
could be impacted and potentially participate in installations, artwork being
created, immersive theatre or as an audience to your exciting work.  There
will be a dedicated space but they are open to ideas around the use of the site
and opportunities for new audiences to witness high quality engaging artistic
practice.    They aim to include disabled artists and also groups
or individuals with a LGBT focus.

There will be opportunities for artists
involved to benefit from organised networking and a space on a workshop event
with Arts Council relationship managers giving advice on Grants for the Arts
and progressing your practice.

They don’t have a huge budget but there is
funding available for performing and some materials. They can offer excellent
technical support with their production partners, Continental Drifts.  If
you would like to apply please complete and return the attached application
form by Sunday 12th of March to nancy.stridgen@lewisham.gov.uk

If you would like to discuss your
ideas please contact Kellie Blake on 020 8314 6578 (Mon to Wed only) or Nancy
Stridgen on 0208 314 9608 (Tues, Wed and Thursday).

"Just to say a huge thanks ... I am looking forward to progressing with this project thanks to your support, advice and guidance"
