A.N.D Project co-ordinators – Project co-ordination for East London mobile artist in residence

A New Direction has been commissioned by the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) to develop and deliver a 1 year mentorship scheme with the creative team leading the East London Mobile Residency commission.

The mentorship scheme will engage with young people in east London aged between 16 – 25, and provide useful and meaningful experiences that will help them to secure future employment in the cultural and creative sectors.

To provide meaningful and practical experiences for young people, this project must extend their understanding of their own skills and talents, provide practical links to the cultural and creative sectors and the jobs that exist within them, and signpost pathways that lead towards gaining employment.

To achieve this, AND seeks a project co-ordinator to: build strong working relationships with the creative team, developing a clear understanding of the artistic goals and an agreed set of common goals and parameters structure a bi-monthly programme of continued professional development with the creative team and artists that will inform their current and future practice understand the needs of young people developing personal development plans that empower and help them learn to take responsibility for their own future use AND’s extensive network of educational, creative and cultural organisations to support recruitment, project delivery, sharings and outcomes plus access to additional opportunities for the young people develop a coherent and consistent mentoring framework across all projects and targeted boroughs ensure participation in a minimum of two different educational workshops, three mentoring meetings, regular emails and invitations to participate at each of the four key seasonal events delivered by the ELMO project promote access to local cultural and creative experiences enabled through the ELMO project and AND’s partnership with Create – mentees will have exclusive access to talks, projects, festivals and events between July 2013 and July 2014.

The position will work closely with Programme Associate, Oliver Benjamin Programme Director Rebecca Branch and Steve Moffitt, A New Direction’s CEO.

Project Timeline:

July 2013 – July 2014 (12 months)

Project Co-ordination Fee:

A New Direction envisages this contract for 75 days over 12 months, based on a day rate of £200. A New Direction also recognises that due to the nature of the work there will need to be a degree of flexibility involved in the allocating of days, accommodating times where there will be peaks and troughs of activity.

The position ideally needs to start the week commencing 08 July 2013.
