Lewisham Arts FDM 2026 Evaluation report

As part of a scheme funded by Lewisham Council Main Grants programme from September 2022 to April 2026, LEAN hosted a arts fundraiser that helped groups and artists operating in Lewisham with a free programme of fundraising support for projects incorporating the arts. During this period the Arts Fundraiser role supported successful fundraising bids totaling over £500,000 and delivered 22 capacity building training workshops and 96 individual advice surgeries.

Over £501 K has been secured through our fundraising support, from over £ 1,183,000’s worth of funding applications (a 42% success rate) so benefiting thousands of Lewisham residents, enriching the borough’s cultural offer, and using creativity to connect communities.

Successful awards from major funders include Arts Council England, Paul Hamlyn Foundation, D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust, Backstage Theatre Trust, and Garfield Weston Foundation.

Delivered 96 1:1 advice fundraising advice sessions.78% attendees surveyed strongly agreed or agreed that the session increased their fundraising skills, knowledge and awareness and 67% strongly agreed or agree that the support has or will help with their resilience and sustainability.

Delivered 22 workshops and masterclasses attended by 635 people in total. 89 % of participants surveyed rated these workshops as excellent or good. Led on, reviewed or edited 59 funding applications.
