XFade Showcase; the Sedgehill School Record Label
Sedgehill School are incredibly excited to be hosting their own record label showcase on Wednesday 25th March. Tickets are £5 and must be purchased in advanced from Bex Hand at rhand@sedgehillschool.co.uk.
The XFade Showcase will feature over 45 students from across Y7 to Y13 who have written their own songs to perform in front of a panel of judges, XFactor-style. Music industry professionals from the Royal Albert Hall and SYCO will be judging the students on their song writing skills and performances; there will even be an audience vote so everyone gets their opportunity to support their favourite artist. We are especially excited that ex-Sedgehill student Taneisha Jackson will be on our judging panel, fresh from writing a song for John Legend which features on the current San Miguel advert.
The XFade Showcase is part of a wider project funded by Urban Development. Sedgehill School has been working closely with the organisation over the last couple of years, piloting their uProgress scheme and using funding to improve our recording studio.
Andy Gilbert, the Musician in Residence at Sedgehill School, is the man behind the school record label and the performance concept. “I am so proud of the young people involved in XFade this year.
