The National Portrait Gallery invite teachers and educators to celebrate Black History Month at this Seminar exploring the teaching of migration, empire and civil rights through portraiture.

Through talks from guest speakers and group discussion, look at ways in which hidden stories and different narratives can be uncovered in the classroom, and support teachers with the skills, confidence, resources and language to do this.

Akinola Davies (director) and Moya DeYoung (researcher) for the the new BBC iplayer series ‘Black to Life: Rethinking the Black Presence within British History’.
Aimed at primary and secondary teachers, this event will link to the teaching of Art, History, English and Citizenship.
