Forest Hill School (FHS) will once again host its flagship community arts festival Forest Fest on Saturday 17th July 2010, 12pm-7pm. Admission £1.50 (adults), 50p (children).

Now in its second year the Festival has proven itself to be a rip roaring success. This years event will be a sumptuous summer extravaganza featuring an array of opportunities to shop, dance, participate in workshops and much more With professional performances, as well as FHSs very own home spun talents!
Visitors will experience a varied programme of live music – ranging from Indie and Rock, to Jazz, RnB and Gospel; dance, drama and poetry performances; creative comedy, beat boxing and jewellery workshops; storytelling and face painting; delicious food and refreshments, plus fun fete activities (including a bouncy castle).
Performance highlights include local girl group Shiikane, following on fresh from their first single release in 2009; drama by London Bubble and Collaborative Adventures; superb dance by Abyss (ex-FHS students and last years winners of Sydenhams Got Talent, whose members rank among amongst the finalist of BBCs So You Want to Dance Like Michael Jackson), plus an explosive collaborative dance piece by FHS and Holy Trinity, Horniman and Perrymount Primary Schools. There will also be sets by Lewisham Music Services varied ensembles, Lets Drum, UpROAR, Fundamentally Gospel and It Kickz.
New to the festival will be the Jazz Collective Tea Dance – a great opportunity to listen to favourite songs of the past, enjoy a cuppa, socialise and trip the light fantastic. So dust off your dancing shoes!
If all that isnt enough, visitors can browse the festivals market place and discover a plethora of information and art stalls selling fine hand crafted goods from wooden toys, cards and t-shirts to African inspired handbags and accessories by Redskinbags, as well as organic vegetables grown in FHSs own vegetable garden and exhibited at this years Chelsea Flower Show!
There will be plenty of belly rumbling, lips-smacking foods on offer; including: cakes and bakes by Feathers & Gracie, Caribbean food by Cummin Up, healthy foods by Black River Café, all your fast food favourites by the The Frying Dutchman, plus sweets, confectionary, slushies and ice-creams by Zenith Candies, Barbaros Ices and Galindos who do a mean range of homemade Caribbean flavoured ice creams. Not forgetting your essential hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, patties and so the list goes on.
Funded with the generous support of Lewisham Council, Ecovert FM and London & Quadrant Housing Association, Forest Fest is an excellent family day out, with lots of activities for everyone. Its the perfect place to experience an eclectic mix of local artistic styles and talent of outstanding quality so dont miss it!
