The focus is on creative music making with pre-school and primary school age children, in both informal and formal settings

The weekend will centre on approaches to creative music making, how best to engage young children in the arts, examples of practical processes, discussions on how to adapt to varying ability levels and appropriate level of difficulty for such a young age.
The weekend will be delivered by Sigrun Saevarsdottir-Griffiths and Natasha Zielazinski, who have worked extensively with very young children both in terms of instrumental teaching as well as in informal settings of creative music making.
Examples of approaches, processes and exercises:
- warm ups
- improvisation
- percussion
- working
- building riffs & melodic lines with modes
- group management
- useful starting points
- planning & preparation
